There is an evacuation procedure which is clearly stated in every bedroom with staff fully trained to assist guests. The hotel asks that guests make reception aware if they anticipate any particular difficulties in the event of an alarm so that individual assistance can be given.

Located in the district of Ryedale, a primarily rural area with many beautiful market towns and villages, Malton is just off the A64 20 minutes east of York.
From the north and south: Leave the A1M at junction 45. Take the A64 east past York until the Malton exit. On entering Malton the Talbot Hotel is on the right hand side.
By rail: Malton railway station is 300 metres from the hotel. There are direct trains to York and beyond. Hotel staff can organise a taxi to the station for guests with luggage.

Arrival and car parking
There is car parking space within the hotel grounds including 3 disabled spaces close to the front entrance.
The car park has a light gravel surface, suitable for a wheelchair user and is illuminated.
Within the town there is free parking for up to 2 hours.
The entrance way has level access with a wide door front door and wide inner door. There is always a member of staff available to assist with luggage and lend a hand with an umbrella. The outer front door measures 106cms and the inner front door measures 87cms.
At the reception desk there is an upright chair with arms.
A magnifying glass is available at reception.
Guests are shown to their bedroom at the same time being made aware of the facilities: drawing room, restaurant, bar and cloakrooms.
The cloakrooms are located through the bar at ground level. There is an additional ladies cloakroom on the first floor. There is a disabled toilet at ground level by the bar. This is fully equipped with grab bars, raised seat, low wash hand basin and alarm.
There is a drying room with secure gun storage.
Dogs are welcome in all areas except the restaurant and Wentworth room - guide dogs only are allowed in these two areas.
There is no lift.
There are 26 bedrooms of different shapes and sizes including a fully equipped disabled room on the ground floor, accessed through the bar. All rooms are ensuite. All bedrooms and bathrooms are well lit.
Some of the bedrooms can be made up with twin beds and the larger suites can accommodate extra beds. Furniture can be re-arranged to suit a particular guest's requirements. Decor clearly defines the walls from the floors.
The bedrooms have short pile carpets; the bathrooms marble floors.
Hypo allergenic bedding can be provided on request.
An alarm clock is available on request.
One ground floor bedroom for disabled access has:

Throughout the ground floor there the floors are covered with short pile carpet and a hard polished stone floor in the atrium.
Access to the first and second floors is via stairs with a handrail to one side.
Drawing Room: The drawing room is on the ground floor with two wide doors that are wheelchair accessible, and two open fireplaces. Seating is a mixture of sofas and chairs with some firm with arms, and low coffee tables. The door width measures 84cms.
Lighting is a combination of natural daylight and electric. There are table lamps and floor lamps suitable for reading by.
Bar and Atrium: The bar is equipped with leather chairs with arms and round tables. The lighting is a mixture of daylight and electric. The atrium which is filled with natural daylight from the glass ceiling has a mixture of Lloyd Loom style seats and sofas. The door to the bar measures 84cms.
The Wentworth Restaurant: Seats with arms, adjustable lighting as well as natural daylight. Seating can be arranged to accommodate wheelchairs. Wide doors for access. Crockery is white on white table linen. The menu is clearly printed black and burgundy on white and an extra large print format can be supplied on request. The door measures 87cms.
Wentworth Room: The private dining/meeting room has three steps to its entrance with double wide doors. It is filled with natural daylight as well as electric light. There is external access to the terrace.
Food and Drink: Awarded 2 AA rosettes all dietary requirements are catered for. Fresh, ethical and local produce is used as much as possible. As well as in the kitchen, serving staff are trained to understand special dietary needs. All food is served to the table. Tea and coffee is served to guests' bedrooms.
There is a paved terrace area by the car park with tables and chairs which can be accessed from the front.
The main outside seating area is accessed via steps and difficult for wheelchair access.
There is a raised lawn with flower beds and seating at the front of the hotel - this is accessed via steps or a sloping gravel pathway.
Stone steps and walling lead to the lower garden where there is a kitchen garden and space to walk. This is not wheelchair accessible except via the side and back of the hotel. The footpaths are gravel.
